The University of Beira Interior is opening 1 (one) position for Research Fellowship (BI) within the framework of the project SUGGEST-AFRICA - SUpportinG GEoSciences to Develop Africa, funded by the State Budget of Foundation for Science and Technology I.P. and by funds from the Aga Khan Development Network.

Job description: The position consists of a full-time position for a period of 12 months (with the possibility of renewal after September 2020 after successful conclusion of the first year of a M.Sc. course) at SEGAL (Space & Earth Geodetic Analysis Laboratory), Department of Computer Sciences, University of Beira Interior, Covilhã, Portugal. The candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of procedures that will implement the monitoring of short- (weather) and long-term (climate) variations by establishing the operational computation of Water Vapor from GNSS observations in Mozambique in the framework of the activities defined in the SUGGEST-AFRICA work plan and with the goal of obtaining a M.Sc. at University of Beira Interior.

Admission conditions:
-Candidates must already have a University graduation degree;
-Candidates must already have registered or fulfil the conditions to enrol on a Master of Sciences degree at University of Beira Interior in Geographical Information Systems or Computer Sciences Engineer;
-Proficiency in Portuguese;
-Recommendation Letters from two Mozambican Partners of SUGGEST-AFRICA, CENACARTA - Centro Nacional de Cartografia e Detenção Remota and INAM - Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia
Preferential Requisites:
-Strong knowledge of the observing GNSS and/or Meteo networks in Mozambique;
-Ability to work in an organized and structured way;
-Good social and team working skills;
-Capacity to work independently, according to the instructions received.
