Research Interests
Development of biotechnological platforms for the biosynthesis (plasmid cloning, plasmid recombinant production), extraction (alkaline lysis), isolation, purification (chromatography) and in vitro and in vivo application of plasmids for DNA vaccines or gene therapy. Monolithic chromatography and advantages of these chromatographic supports to purify large biomolecules, such as plasmids, comparing to conventional particulate columns. Fundamental studies of chromatographic ligands, based on amino acids and derivatives, to understand the interactions involved with supercoiled plasmid isoform under different elution chromatographic conditions established (by manipulation of temperature, type of salt, ionic strength, pH and addition of competing agents). Development of targeted delivery systems to cancer cells or antigen presenting cells. Nucleic acids (plasmid DNA, genomic DNA, RNA, minicircle DNA) and recombinant proteins production, extraction and purification.
