Learning outcomes At the end of this course unit, the student should be able to understand, in the context of large-scale enterprise information systems, the relationship between the dimensions of: Organization, Strategy, Management and Information technology.
Furthermore the following objectives are identified, for the student:
- Know methods for industrial analysis to prescription, operation and redesign systems business information.
- Know the basic computer applications that make up the operation on a day-to-day business information systems.
- Understand the role of information systems analyst within an organization.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods Students are faced with weekly and fortnightly activities that aim understand the complex phenomena that occur in an organization supported by IS.
For this case studies are provided, taken from actual industrial contexts that have to be studied, analyzed and proposed a solution.
The inserted methodological support is the conceptualization through concept mapping and triangulation between different solutions to be held in the student presentations.
This approach allows students to be introduced to the theme in a way exploratory and with a strategy "hands-on".
On the other hand, the theoretical part, students participate in classes, through the themes of
collective discussion that are posted in each classroom.
Metodologias de Ensino e Critérios de Avaliação A avaliação consta de uma parte teórica (TE) e de uma parte teórico-prática (TP):
TE(5 valores) : testes escritos (freqs. / exames) – freq. obrigatória;
TP(15 valores) : 5 trabalhos práticos, com apresentação/defesa de acetatos e discussão na aula: TP1=2 , TP2=2 , TP3=3 , TP4=4 , TP5=4 - TP4 e TP5 obrigatórios;
