Learning outcomes	Obtain basic knowledge of Probability and Statistics, vital for future learning of more advanced concepts that arise in the course of academic and/or professional training. Select and apply proper statistical methods to draw conclusions under uncertainty in the Biochemestry area. At the end of the course the student should be able to apply probabilistic and statistical concepts in solving biochemistry problems. Communicate with precision the issues that involve statistical concepts. Use a statistical software in the organization and data processing.

Basic concepts of probability 2.1 Random Experience, sample space and events 2.2 Classical definition of probability 2.2 Axiomatic definition of probability and its consequences 2.3 Conditional probability and independence of events 3. Real random variables and probability distributions 3.1 Real discrete and continuous random variables 3.2 Distribution moments 3.3 Characterization of some discrete and continuous probability distributions 3.4 Central Limit Theorem and its applications 4. Introduction to statistical inference 4.1 Point estimation and estimator properties 4.2 Confidence Intervals 4.3 Parametric and non-parametric hypothesis tests
