Learning outcomes 1. Present a comprehensive and broad understanding of the notion of "filmmaker"
2. Recognize the pertinence of the filmmaker's discourse and identify concepts and expressions of those discourses as well as specificities of the respective creative process
3. Check the articulation of the thought and poetics of the filmmakers with film theory.

Syllabus 1. The "filmmakers on film" approach. Extended notion of "filmmaker". Issues: scope, potential and limits of the approach in the scope of current film theory.
2. Viewing and discussion of films nominated for the EUFA-European University Film Award.
3. Elaboration of a scientific article in which the "filmmakers on film" approach is operationalized.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The uc is taught using the discussion of texts previously read by students; viewing of the films nominated for the EUFA and follow-up sessions of the work in article form. The evaluation consists of two elements:
Text in the form of a scientific article, with presentation in class (50%). The operationalization of the “filmmakers on film” approach is evaluated, as well as formal aspects of the article.
Participation in class (in choosing the film for the EUFA-European University Film Award) and in article follow-up sessions (50%).

Language Portuguese. Tutorial support is available in English.
