Learning outcomes To deepen the knowledge about the process of scientific investigation in International Relations oriented to the elaboration of the project of dissertation.

General Objectives
1. To enable the Master's students with in-depth knowledge of methods and techniques of scientific research in Social Sciences, with particular emphasis on studies in International Relations;
2. To promote the development of an ethical and critical conscience around the research activities and the production of scientific knowledge having in mind the defined objectives and the field of study;
3. To support the Master's students in the formulation of a research problema and in the construction of rational and logically argumentation;
4. To guide the systematization and organization of information, as well as the selection of research techniques related to the proposed theme;
5. Provide the Master’s students of instruments oriented to written and oral structured, clear and consistent argumentation in the objectives, methods, results and sources.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Training for the design of a research project.
2. Strengthening the hability to critically analyze a theme in the area of International Relations;
3. Well-founded formulation of a research problem;
4. Acquisition of the necessary knowledge for an adequate selection of research techniques for the proposed theme;
5. Consolidation of the argumentation and techniques of written and oral expression.
Syllabus 1. Preliminary and Introductory Questions on Research in International Relations
1.1. Initial criteria to scientific research prior to the acquisition of knowledge
1.2. Scientific curiosity, systematic exercise, methodological rigor and ethics
1.3. The rupture (s) with common sense and the pursuit of objectivity
2. Methods of research practices in social sciences
2.1. The subject and originality, definition of general objectives and specific objectives
2.2. The starting question and the hypotheses
2.3. The search planning and schedule
2.4. Sources, references, citations, fact sheets and list of consulted references
2.5. Ethics and plagiarism
2.6. The empiria: Research techniques applied to studies in International Relations
3. The importance of data collected analyze
4. Writing the dissertation
4.1. Structuring the Dissertation
