Syllabus 1. Literary canon and peripheries: texts and intertexts
2. Some milestones in the appreciation of traditional oral literature.
3. Simple and complex forms of oral literature: typological distinction, function and most common structures
4. Marginal literature genres with written record, distinction and typological characterization. Highlighting some genres the way the canon
4.1. The folk tale and children's short story
4.2. Literary crime fiction
4.3. Science fiction
5. Paracosmos

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The methodology involves collection by students of cultural artefacts, which will be the subject of discussion and analysis. A required reading of four works, at least, will be discussed at a later selection.
A final work, encompassing both the collection of texts, and required reading, oral presentation, will be the core ofsummative assessment.
