Learning outcomes 1. To identify and to characterize the main aspects of Hebrew history and culture;
2. To identify and to analyze the basic concepts of Judaism;
3. To identify ant to question the main problems of the «Jewish Question».
4. To identify and to characterize the main features of Shoah (Holocaust);
5. To identify and to examine the existence of the State of Israel in todays geopolitics
Syllabus 1. On being a Jew;
2. Jews in Portugal;
3. Inquisition and New Christians;
4. The Hidden or Secret Jews and the Marrano's Diaspora;
5. The Enlightenment and the «Judenfrage» or «Jewish Question»;
6. The Shoah (Holocaust) and the State of Israel.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria 1.The lectures are both theoretical and practical with a frequent use of audiovisual material;
