Entry requirements Students should have knowledge of hydraulics.
Learning outcomes Objectives:
To give students the expertise needed for sizing water supply systems and wastewater collection systems, enabling them to have skills for project and for the management of water supply and wastewater collection systems.
Skills:
(a) Domain of the design of public water supply and distribution systems.
(b) Domain of the design of wastewater collection systems.
(c) Understanding of the design of water supply and wastewater collection systems in buildings.
Syllabus 1. WATER SUPPLY SYSTEMS
Water adduction and water supply systems. Reservoirs. Design criteria for
water adduction systems and reservoirs. Accessories. Economic study of adduction systems.
2. WATER DISTRIBUITION SYSTEMS
Ramified and mesh type networks. Design criteria. Hardy-Cross method.
Accessories. Modeling of water distribution systems using the EPANET software.
3. WASTEWATER COLLECTION SYSTEMS
Types of systems. Design problems. Hydraulic and sanitary design
criteria. Modeling of sewer networks.
4. WATER SUPPLY AND WASTEWATER DRAINAGE SYSTEMS INSIDE BUILDINGS
General conception of
water and wastewater networks. Network components. Design criteria. Connection to the public network.
