Learning outcomes 1. Know the history of neuropsychology, the theoretical models underlying its emergence and the importance of neuroimaging for the evolution of the discipline.
2. Know the phylogenetic and ontogenetic perspective of the development of the nervous system.
3. Framing the functioning of the nervous system with cytohistological, anatomical-functional and biochemical processes.
4. Relate between brain structures, neurocognitive processes and pathological changes.
5. Understand emotional processing.
Syllabus 1. Historical framework of the emergence of neurosciences.
2. Historical perspective of the evolution of concepts and theoretical models that support the emergence of Neuropsychology.
3. The importance of neuroimaging in the development of neurosciences: main methods.
4. Development of the Nervous System: phylogenetic and ontogenetic perspective.
5. Structural and functional neuroanatomy of the Central and Peripheral Nervous System.
6. Cellular components of the Nervous System: neurons and glial cells.
7. Cerebral Pathology
8. Nerve impulse transmission process: synapses and neurotransmitters.
9. Relationship between brain structures and neurocognitive processes (neuropsychological syndromes)
10. Emotional processing.
11. General principles of neuropsychological rehabilitation

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The typology of classes in this UC will be fundamentally of theoretical-practical nature, with exposition of the main contents by the teacher in order to create a critical debate on the topics covered. Therefore, expository methods and critical discussion of themes will be used, encouraging the participation of students. In the exploration of the different themes, there will be a constant concern in the relationship between theory and practice, with the aim to promote in the student their critical thinking.
