Learning outcomes This course aims to give an introduction to the study of Sport Psychology, providing a conceptual and theoretical framework for understanding and discussing the influence of psychological variables in sports and exercise, and acquire basic intervention skills in this area.
• Definition of Sport Psychology, characterise its object and its most common research methods.
• Describe the most relevant psychological processes in the practice of sport and exercise and discuss the empirical data that supports this description.
• Describe and explain basic psychological intervention strategies related to the psychological processes.
• Explain the value of educational and preventive psychological intervention in sport.
• Analyze and synthesize scientific information in the field of Sport Psychology.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The typology of classes in this UC will be fundamentally of a theoretical and practical nature, with exposition of the main contents by the teacher in order to create a critical debate on the topics covered. Therefore, expository methods and critical discussion of themes will be used, encouraging the participation of students. In the exploration of the different themes, there will be a constant concern about the relationship between theory and practice, with the aim of promoting critical thinking among students.
