Entry requirements The Curricular Unit has no entry requirements, however it assumes that students successfully attended the Architectural Design Curricular Units of the previous years.
Learning outcomes - To think, research, and design habitat in low-density territories and in the contemplation of architectural problems that involve housing and habitat, positioning housing as a destination, not a starting point;
- To reposition the contemporary problem, previously advocated in the sense "From Housing to Habitat," now 'From Habitat to Housing';
- To develop one of the four rural cores selected in the first semester, defining a program that involves the creation of employment, housing, and support infrastructures for the development of the respective core.
Syllabus Under the theme "The problem of housing and public space. Manifesto More than Houses," it is intended to develop one of the four rural cores selected in the first semester, defining a program that involves the creation of employment, housing, and support infrastructures for the development of the respective core. The main themes of the course are:
The crisis of housing shortage;
The housing problem is also a habitat problem;
Population needs;
Types of dwelling;
Intercultural city;
Global citizenship;
Rehabilitation and construction. What are the (dis)advantages?
Urban fabric and sites in need of intervention;
Actions and public policies.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The pedagogy will focus on three interrelated components:
Theoretical classes on themes and contents of the program, and framework of different phases of the practical project exercises;
Practical project exercises defined in the curriculum program and in the statements for the semester, with stages of increasing complexity in function of the predefined objectives;
Critical follow-up classes of the different phases of the practical project exercise – presentation and critical discussion in class and tutorial follow-up.
Evaluation:
Continuous and in-person assessment with communication of qualitative grades assigned at the end of each phase of the project and after discussion and submission of the work;
At the end of the semester, an evaluation of the work produced is carried out, which will have a final classification assessed with equity among the students who developed this program.
Language Portuguese. Tutorial support is available in English.
