Learning outcomes This curricular unit aims to raise awareness to different anthropological approaches throughout the history of philosophy and to emphasize the importance of the philosophical articulation with other knowledge about the humane. At the end of this unit the students should be able to (i) identify the study subject of the philosophical anthropology; (ii) question the methodological and hermeneutical issues of the subject; (iii) characterize paradigmatic anthropological approaches; (iv) question the issue of the human essence; (v) evaluate the anthropological meaning of death.

4. The anthropological sense of death
4.1. Amid the absurd and hope; from Sisyphus to Prometheus
4.2. Can the problem of death define the humane?
