Syllabus 1 – Cinematographic art: the invention of the cinematograph. The cinema of attractions. First theoretical approaches: Münsterberg and French school.
3 – Theoretical paradigm of “silent” cinema: Rudolf Arnheim. The cinema according to Vertov and Eisenstein. Theoretical paradigm of “sound” cinema: the realist theory of Bazin and Kracauer.
4 – The Filmology. The “auteur” theory. Structuralism.
5 – Regime of movement-image and regime of time-image.
6 – Contemporary cinema theory. The film spectator.
7 – Filmmakers theory: Bresson, Tarkovsky, Pasolini.
