Learning outcomes The main objective of this course is to make students aware of the basic principles of a joint source/channel coding system and be able to propose new solutions.
This course aims to understand the functioning of a joint source/channel coding system and be able to propose coding models that take into account the type of channel transmission, and its characteristics. The discipline attaches particular importance to encoding images and videos, both 2D and 3D.
Syllabus The source coding. The basic principles. The various types of existing methods.
The channel encoding. The basic principles. The various types of existing methods.
The joint source/channel encoding. The basic principles. The various types of existing methods.
The transmission channels and their characteristics.
Multiple descriptor coding for joint source/ channel coding. The basic principles. The various types of existing methods.
