Learning outcomes |
This curricular unit is designed to develop student’s knowledge about Theory of Education fundamental concepts mainly through an historical perspective. At the end of this curricular unit, the student must be able: • To embrace the origin of pedagogical theories and present educational institutions in the light of its historical development; • To build a reflective view on the importance of the major pedagogical theories of education and its implications to physical education; • To develop critical and innovative approaches of educational action as future teachers of physical education; •To express ideas in a reasoned manner, using oral and written communication; • To exercise critical sense; • To assume responsibility for their learning.

Syllabus |
I. Introductory questions: History and Theory of Education concept and object and its importance for teachers training. Reflection upon the concept of education and the specificity of the pedagogical and educative relationship. II. History of Education: Origins of the present pedagogical thought and the building of the school model of education: Conceptions and role of physical education.III. Contemporary Educational Trends and Pedagogical Theories.
