Learning outcomes It is intended that students acquire the fundamental knowledge for the analysis and design of structures. In this sense, analytical models and techniques are presented that allow determining stresses and displacements in structures in order to determine the necessary dimensions.
Syllabus Introduction to Structure Mechanics
Structural loadings
Axial effort; Bending; cutting; twisting; combined efforts
Beam analysis
Effort diagrams; calculation to resistance; calculation of displacements; Hyperstatic cases.
Analysis of reticulated structures and gantry-like structures
Deformation energy; theorem of virtual works; Castigliano's theorem;
Bending bars.
Euler equation; Short columns; Eccentric loading.
Fatigue in structures.
