Entry requirements We recommend the frequency of History of Architecture I.
Learning outcomes The purpose of HA2 is to constitute itself as a reflection on the theoretical and practical production of the architectural world of the Contemporary Era, understanding, in this context, is genesis and development, as well as the sociocultural conditions that frame it. From the contents of this CU period in particular - from Renascence to the 18th century - students should also work a deeper maturity in the reflection on the history of production and critical practice of this specific moment of history, with inevitable repercussions on practice and subsequent architectural discourse. Learning to think about architecture from a complex point of view and to which a wide range of knowledge contributes is an essential objective of all architecture training and this UC is affiliated in this way of thinking/acting architectural knowledge.
Syllabus I. Historical and cultural context of the Renaissance:
      1. The advent of the modern age in Europe.
      2. The cult of Classical Antiquity.
      3. Renaissance and Humanism.
II. Renaissance Architecture and Art - Classical Structures and Innovation:
      1. General characteristics of Renaissance Architecture.
      2. The treatists and the construction of a body of thought.
III. Renaissance Architecture in Italy and its expansion:
      1. Architecture and Patronage in Italy.
      2. The New City - Architects and paradigmatic works.
      3. The Renaissance outside Italy.
IV. Mannerism:
      1. Political and religious context: reform and counter-reform.
      2. From Miguel Angelo to Gian Lorenzo Bernini - Classicism crisis - rupture and transition.
V. The Baroque:
      1. Political power and cultural and artistic marks.
      2. Architects and paradigmatic works.
SAW. The Rococo:
      1. The crisis of baroque aesthetics.
      2. Rococo in France and Europe.
