Learning outcomes Develop students' general and specific research skills in the different themes of architecture - from representation and protection to theory / history, and from the relationship with society and human habitat to urbanism and spatial planning. i) Support for the preparation of a master's dissertation - with a diversified project and / or theoretical profile (to be developed in the subsequent semester); but they also refer (ii) to the awareness and support of students in the sense of continuing useful research processes for all activities related to architectural practice, with emphasis on multidisciplinary actions for the rehabilitation and requalification of buildings and urban spaces , as well as complex territorial interventions; and (iii) the importance of this training in the probable development of personal paths for students specifically directed to research.
Syllabus a) introduction to research and its objectives; b) specificity of research in the areas of architecture and urbanism and the main sub-areas of thematic targeting; c) specific aspects to be highlighted in the research processes used by other thematic areas; d) research methodologies, types and models; e) planning and systematization of research and main results; f) ethical aspects and linked to resources and limitations; g) theoretical and practical bases available; h) methods of analysis and evaluation of use, satisfaction and architectural quality; i) investigation methods with case studies; j) “editorial” writing and presentation of technical and scientific works; k) public presentation of technical and scientific works.
