Learning outcomes Develop a thesis / PhD Project, developing the following skills: artistic basic research domain (arts-based research); field of interdisciplinary research on and through art; deep and original understanding of the doctoral subject area and its context; critical capacity to assess the status of doctoral theme of art; conceive, design and carry out significant research respecting the requirements imposed by the academic quality and integrity; develop writing skills in academic record; communicate with their peers, the academic community and society in general, the results of research by participating in scientific, cultural and academic events and the publication of articles / artistic work display.
Syllabus The work under this unit will culminate with the registration of a thesis / PhD project with recognized quality and accepted for presentation and public defense. The specific program content will tend to reflect the nature of research students and depend on thematic and methodological guidelines of various research projects to be undertaken by PhD students with monitoring and tutorial.
Main Bibliography Depending on the research topic and the student's PhD project.
Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The teaching-learning activities eminently have a tutorial nature, involving regular meetings between the supervisor and the student; discussion seminars of Thesis / Project themes. In each seminar will take place the presentation of a part of the Thesis / Project of doctoral candidates, followed by comments and discussions with students and teachers of the doctoral program as well as researchers of research units (IU) with similar interests. In addition,
students will be integrated, whenever possible, in research projects (national or international) of the UI that support this PhD program; Evaluation of the Thesis / Project in a public examination by a jury composed according to the regulation.
Language Portuguese. Tutorial support is available in English.
