Abílio Silva has a Ph.D. (2006) and habilitation (2018) in Mechanical Engineering and is an Associate Professor (2021) with habilitation at the Department of Electromechanical Engineering at the University of Beira Interior (www.ubi.pt), Portugal. Researcher, since 2008, and currently is the coordinator of C-MAST (Centre for Mechanical and Aerospace Science and Technologies, www.cmast.ubi.pt), his field of research is related to composites, structures, nanotechnologies and multifunctional materials. In particular, he carries out research into advanced ceramics, composites and biomaterials, studying their mechanical behaviour, structural integrity and the use of numerical models. He is co-author of 2 books, 4 books chapter and more than 90 papers published in international per review journals (h-index of 19). He successfully supervised one doctoral thesis, co-supervised two others, and is currently supervising five (ongoing). He has supervised more than 55 MSc dissertations, co-supervised eight others, and is currently supervising 12 (ongoing).
He has participated as a researcher in more than 20 projects, 4 of which are ongoing, and is the principal investigator in 11 projects
