The Department of Sports Sciences of the University of Beira Interior (DCD-UBI) is ranked 101-150 in the ranking of Shanghai dedicated to academic institutions of teaching and research in the field of Sport. The DCD appears in the first half of a list of the Academic Ranking of World Universities, which is one of the 400 best entities in the world that in the last five years has played an active role in its mission areas, namely in terms of research.
In order to reach this mark, the Department of Sports Sciences has achieved good rankings in the analyzed indicators, which include articles indexed in the Web of Science, citations totals, citations per article, papers inserted in scientific journals of the top 25% and international interaction developed through partnerships with foreign entities.
In Shanghai, there are only six Portuguese institutions listed. In addition to UBI, the universities of Porto, Lisbon, Coimbra, Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro and Technique of Lisbon emerge.
The Department of Sports Sciences is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities and teaches the Degree in Sports Sciences (1st Cycle), Masters in Sports Sciences and Physical Education in Basic and Secondary Education (2nd Cycle ) and PhD in Sports Sciences (3rd Cycle).
