Group description:
The Respiratory & Allergic Diseases (RAD) group is a clinically-centred group of researchers, which will carry on being mainly focused on chronic obstructive airways diseases - asthma (and allergic rhinitis as one of its main risk factors) and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Its main objective is to contribute to reducing disease burden (particularly disease exacerbations) and increasing patients’ quality of life throughout the life cycle. This involves identification of biomarkers of disease subtypes, characterization of environmental exacerbators of disease, optimization of disease monitoring approaches, and incrementation of disease-related health literacy. RAD has been involved in various national and international networks and projects and also works with two patient cohorts in epidemiological studies, as well as in interventional studies, namely clinical trials.
