Team Recognition

Main achievements in 2022 were the demonstration that:

a) High-frequency repetitive magnetic stimulation can rescue ischemia-injured neurons through modulation of the astrocyte's secretome [DOI: 10.1111/jnc.15740];
b) Neurophysiological studies - PERGs and TMS - are useful for diagnosis and correction of adult amblyopia. [DOI: 10.1080/08820538.2022.2069471], [DOI: 10.1007/s10792-022-02269-7];
c) Umbilical cord blood cells are neuroprotective in Neonatal Hypoxia-Ischemia encephalopathy. [DOI: 10.3390/ijms24010257];
d) Argonaute 2 can be regarded as a therapeutic agent or target, in recovery of the neurovascular unit in inflammatory conditions. [DOI: 10.1186/s12974-021-02324-7];
e) Insomnia is an important risk factor for Ischaemic stroke. [DOI: 10.1016/j.sleep.2022.03.022];
f) A translocation of the methylcytosine dioxygenase 1 gene is associated with the familial and sporadic forms of Parkinson disease. [DOI: 10.5213/inj.2222206.103];
g) Small extracellular vesicles can be used as delivery agents for miR-124-3p for Parkinson's disease. [DOI: 10.1016/j.ymthe.2022.06.003];
h) The development of an Ionic Liquid-based Nox1 inhibitor has anti-oxidant properties; this was patented (Patent: 20221000000467) and its IPR licensed to the company Fastprinciple;
i) The development of nanoparticles conjugated with Cre recombinase allowed gene editing control in different brain regions. [DOI: 10.1038/s41467-022-31791-6];
j) Expression and activity of ABCC4 at the brain-cerebrospinal fluid barrier is rhythmic, a finding with implications for brain drug delivery. [DOI: 10.3390/ijms23052443].
