Research Interests
Pharmacology, Pharmacokinetics and Bioanalysis: Main research focus is the development and application of in vitro tools to predict ADME and pharmacotoxicological properties of drugs and drug candidates; this involves the application of cell culture assays and tissues mounted in Ussing chamber to study drug absorption and disposition mechanisms and cytotoxicity. Additionally, there is a vast experience in the in vivo characterization of the pharmacokinetics of drugs in rodents (mice and rats) following various routes of administration (oral, intraperitoneal, intravenous and intranasal routes). These kind of studies are used to support the assessment of potential drug-drug or herb-drug interactions and development of novel drug formulations. The development and validation of analytical methods of liquid chromatography to quantify drugs and/or metabolites in biological matrices or pharmaceutical formulations is also routinely performed according to the needs.
