Research Interests
The research interests of S Socorro cover the action of sex steroid hormones and endocrine disruptors in male reproduction and cancer. Experimental approaches use cell lines, animal models and/or human samples involving genomic, transcriptomic and metabolomic analysis. Current research is focused on the: i) hormonal actions controlling metabolism, cell fate and calcium homeostasis (regucalcin) in the male reproductive tract; ii) molecular mechanisms underpinning infertility and carcinogenesis associated with metabolic and hormonal disorders; iii) development of innovative biomarkers and therapeutic options for management and treatment of hormone-dependent cancers.
