CICS-UBI is once again committed to celebrate the World Cancer Day, organizing the 2018 #WeCanICan Activities, under the slogan “How I See Cancer?” The event will take place at the CICS-UBI, Health Sciences Research Centre, University of Beira Interior, Covilhã, Portugal, between the 1st and 8th February 2018.
The idea is to spread in the Social Media - CICS-UBI facebook - videos or texts with the different visions, perspectives, feelings and testimonies of young researchers, cancer survivors and health professionals. Whereas cancer survivors will contribute with their personal experience along the process of diagnostic and treatment, the healthcare professionals will give their input regarding the disease, their expectations concerning new treatments and preventive approaches. The young researchers will share their motivations to develop projects focused on cancer, and show how they are engaged to tackle cancer. The strong and dynamic participation of these different target groups will reach the general community, contributing to encourage, motivate, and join forces against the battle of cancer.
Secondary school students will be challenged to draw a picture of their perspective of cancer, and all the received works will be exposed during the week at the CICS-UBI main entrance. Altogether, these different and transversal experiences will help to demystify concepts associated with cancer disease and spotlight healthy behaviors to fight against cancer, spreading the message to the public.
