Admission Requirements

The access conditions are the ones established for the other Master degrees of the University.
The access to the second cycle is done by first cycle or equivalent graduates. In the latter case it will be considered candidates who have completed at least 180 ECTS credits in first cycle degree or in first cycle degree with master degree integrated in any textile area, as well as, other access conditions which are foreseen by law.

About

Profile of the programme The Master degree in Textile Engineering aims at global and systemized training, at a superior level, of professionals with competences to contribute for the modernization and restructuration of the National Textile and Clothes Industries in order for them to be competitive in the global market. The immediate objectives that shall be achieved with this degree are: To be able 1) to develop investigation work. 2) to apply knowledge in the presentation of conception engineering solutions; 3) to do research and applied studies to develop support knowledge for complex and innovative projects solutions; 4) to assume Technical Leadership responsibilities in any ITV company. 5) To have competences to clearly transmit research conclusions and projects; 6) To have competences for an autonomous life learning, namely to follow PhD studies, acquiring knowledge that allow them to achieve professional investigation and teaching steps in higher education
Key learning outcomes With the master degree of Textile Engineering it is intended to confer high abilities at leadership and the conception tasks, completing the formation of the bachelor in Textile Engineering. The new and emergent requirements of the modern industries compel to complement these professional profiles with specific abilities in the areas of engineering sciences: biotechnology, mechanics, electronics, management and logistic, technological materials and non- conventional or high technology materials
Occupational profiles of graduates The potential employers of these professionals will be Textile and Ready to Wear Clothes companies, their suppliers and big customers, distribution (supermarket chains, retail stores, etc.), whether in technical area, or in technical-commercial area.
Learning facilities It has always been policy of the University of Beira Interior to give big importance to the education practical component. Therefore, it is natural that the Textiles Sciences and Technology Department has excellent and well equipped laboratories and workshops that cover all the textiles technologies rank, since the production of threads, knitwear and clothes and the respective quality control, passing through the ennoblement in dying and finishing, textile chemistry and biotechnology, till the non-conventional textile new technologies and information technologies, covering all the area with specialized CAD systems, for practical lessons , projects development and investigation support.&
