Work placements May be applied, in cases where the work includes a practical work developed in one company.
Learning outcomes Integration of knowledge acquired throughout the Master study plan. Development of a work focusing in one or more sub areas of the student interest, providing both the sedimentation of knowledge and the implementation of an autonomous work with applied investigation. Understand the different scientific areas of the Master, especially the areas of Automation and Electronics.
Integrate the different acquired knowledge.
Be capable to understand and solve new problems.
Design models, equipment or software.
Contribute to the development of the science and the innovation.
Be able to face complex issues, developing solutions and given opinions.
Have ethical and social responsibility in the analysis of the implications arising from their decisions and adopted solutions.
Be able to communicate their knowledge to either specialists or non specialists, in a clear and unambiguous way.
Develop autonomy and leadership abilities.

Syllabus The course unit contents are defined by the Dissertation Supervisor of each individual student. These contents are validated, case by case, by the Course Commission.
Apart from the specific contents, it is intended that are included practices to elaborate a state-of-the-art, definition of design methodologies and research techniques, modeling, analysis and simulation or laboratory implementation, as well as concepts of presentation and dissemination of scientific work.

Main Bibliography The bibliography and sources of information are provided by different teachers responsible for the supervision of each student, and within the scientific area of each work .
Language Portuguese. Tutorial support is available in English.
