Learning outcomes Students must:
1. To explain the perspective of Developmental Psychology, identifying the problems, methods, research techniques and specific theoretical models.
2. To characterize the main perspectives and the theoretical models about human development.
3. To articulate in an integrative and critical way the different theories and concepts about the psychological development.
4. To describe the characteristics and developmental changes of the child and the adolescence from theoretical references.
5. To explain the different developmental dimensions of childhood and adolescence.
6. To justify the individual development in the context in which it occurs.
7. To analyze the implications of developmental tasks on the adaptive functioning of the human being.
Syllabus 1. Human development and the need to study it. Approaches to the study of human development; Lifespan approach perspective. Determinants of development: Cultural context of development; Roles of heredity and environment in human development.Methods of studying human development. The principal theoretical perspectives on human development.
2. Prenatal Development. Early Childhood and Middle Childhood: Characteristics, developmental tasks in Cognitive Development and Psychosocial Development.
3. Adolescence: Characteristics, Developmental tasks - Physical and Cognitive Development in Adolescence and Psychosocial Development.
