Learning outcomes It is intended that students get training in methods of psychological research and theoretical and methodological frameworks inherent to enable them to understand and explore methods of Research in Psychology; address quantitative and qualitative research methods in order to familiarize students with the psychological variables in different levels of analysis; contribute to the acquisition by students of a strong methodological curiosity and data processing skills. Also is intended that students develop the following skills: to be able to describe and discuss the quantitative and qualitative contributions of psychological research; and to be able to integrate the principles of research in psychology to basic training needs in Psychology.
Syllabus Theoretical background of the issues of quantitative research; practical and ethical aspects in planning an investigation; practical exercises in design of research projects; analyzing examples of research in psychology; levels of measurement and the experimental method in psychology; practical research exercises in databases of Psychology; introduction to the research questionnaire, practical exercises, analysis of the questionnaire as a measuring instrument. Theoretical background of the issues of qualitative research; the main qualitative research methods: observation, interviews, discourse analysis, focus groups, content analysis, logbooks, ethnography, historical analysis; introduction to research by computer. Practical training exercises statistical analysis and data processing.
