Learning outcomes The goals of this course are to provide students with a set of interdisciplinary knowledge in areas such as biosafety, occupational hygiene, analysis and risk management and certification systems.
At the end of the course each student will be able to:
*Apply hygiene and biosafety standards in performing the work to protect their health and industrial environment.
*Describe potentially biohazards, the risks associated with their use and the means to minimize risk and to protect or prevent the release or exposure.
*Apply appropriate techniques for handling biological agents, chemical contaminants, radioactive and physical risks, according to the standards of industrial hygiene and biosafety.
*Adopt ethical stance in identifying, recording and reporting occurrences relating to health and safety involving yourself or others.
*Interpret and implement quality standards.
Syllabus Definition and concept of biosafety. Organizational Aspects of Health and Safety function OHSAS 18001. Risk Analysis - Introduction, causality of accidents.
