Learning outcomes The main purpose of this course is to attain a basic communicative competence in Spanish language that allows students to interact, in a simple but effective and appropriate way, in everyday familiar situations, both orally and in writing (A2 CEFR). Other goals:
-Understand and extract information from medium complexity written/oral texts;
Produce oral/written texts about known issues of personal interest: express opinions/feelings/sensations; give directions/advices/orders; report events of past or present, etc.;
Express her/himself and interact orally in everyday situations;
Write simple texts (mails/e-mails, memos, reports, little narratives and descriptions, etc.);
Identify and correct errors of interlanguage (‘portuñol’);
Translate words/short statements from Portuguese to Spanish and vice versa.

The course syllabus will be featured in classroom by following procedures which will be geared toward harnessing the benefits and preventing of dangers of near-languages/cultures learning, such as fossilization of errors due to interference, false friends, homogenizer platitudes, etc. Given the typological closeness between Portuguese and Spanish tongues, it will be done a particular emphasis on the contrastive approach of the linguistic course contents.

Main Bibliography Students will have at their disposal a set of work and study materials, prepared according to the needs of the learners by the teacher. These materials will be available on the Moodle platform (https://moodle.ubi.pt/moodle/), which should be consulted regularly. In addition to these materials, the teacher will indicate in class, the internet pages that can be consulted and the online resources available for the study and practice of the language, as well as specific online pages in the area of ??economics.
