Learning outcomes Students should know the political and social conditions of the creation of the USSR, the ideological features of everyday life in the USSR and the main reasons for the collapse of the USSR. Students should distinguish the regional characteristics of the post-Soviet republics, understand the political, economic and ideological features of the development of the post-Soviet republics. The student should choose one of the post-Soviet republics for a more in-depth study of the social, cultural, and political structure of this state.
Syllabus 1. Living in the Soviet Union: political, cultural, daily life.
2. International relations between the former Soviet republics, of regional
organizations and cooperating blocs.
3. Ukraine, Russian Federation, Belarus, Moldova: history of political and cultural
relations. Military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
4. Baltic countries: break with the Soviet Union, politics and culture, being part of
the European Union.
5. Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan: features of the countries of the Caucasus region
6. Post-Soviet space in Central Asia, the specifics of politics, religion and culture.
