Learning outcomes Introducing students to current practice of written production of papers in Philosophy. By the end of this Curriculum Unit, students should be able to read, interpret and possess the main instrumental requirements to write a paper on their area of philosophical interest. By the end of the course, students will have the ability to analyze, reflect and think critically about philosophical texts.
Syllabus A. Theoretical classes: Towards a History of Distributive Justice.

1. Historical theoretical introduction:
1.1. Justice: theory and/or phenomenon?
1.2. Distributive Justice theories:
a) Justice without thought? The political phenomenon in metazoan kingdom.
b) Archaic Thought: from Pre-History to the Pre-Classical world.
c) Ancient Thought: Pre-Socratics, Plato and Aristotle.
d) Medieval Thought: Saint Augustine and Saint Thomas Aquinas.
e) Modern Thought: Hobbes, Kant, Marx and Stuart Mill.
f) Contemporary Thought: John Rawls and Robert Nozick

B. Practical workshops.

2. Practical/creative workshop.
2.1. What is a theory of moral relevance?
a) Moral facts;
b) Theory of value;
2.2. Theory of moral obligation.
2.3. Theory of rights/duties.
2.4. Theory of distributive justice.
