Profile of the programme The educational objectives of this Master is the human resources development and educational and scientific strengthening of the Industrial Engineering and Management, namely: 1) Acquire knowledge to manage ressources;2) Establish a strong integration between scientific knowledge, technology and management; 3) Develop multi-skills, inter and trans-disciplinary support the function;4) Develop skills to perform a wide range of technical functions of engineering and management; 5) Developing skills in order to work team and use the right language for communication; 6) Develop skills to incorporate the latest technological innovations and new management methods; 7) Encourage entrepreneurship; 8) Allocation of skills by trainees and culture for the development of their work in all contexts; Moreover, by including courses from Business Organisation and Entrepreneurship and Investment Analysis, we encourage these experts to invest in creating new businesses.
Key learning outcomes 1) Acquire knowledge to manage people, equipment and property to improve the productivity, usually in environments of scarcity; 2) Establish a strong integration between scientific knowledge, technology and management, often in the context of the economic and technological constraints and social and environmental constraints as well, 3) Develop multi-skills, inter-and trans-disciplinary support the function of the expert in industrial engineering and management, including the activities of design processes, industrial planning, work organization, resource management, systems management, among others, in order to change organizations culture; 4) Develop skills to perform a wide range of technical functions of engineering and management with respect to economic and financial activities, whether SMEs or big companies, and in research as well; 5) Developing skills in order to work team and use the right language for communication and coordination of multi-and interdisciplinary teams; 6) Develop skills to incorporate the latest technological innovations and new management methods in the performance of professional duties; 7) Encourage entrepreneurship and self- motivator for the new businesses creation, particularly technology-based, 8) Allocation of skills by trainees and culture for the development of their work in all contexts; Qualified Master in Industrial Engineering and Management will develop its activities integrated into industrial or service companies; Moreover, by including courses from Business Organisation and Entrepreneurship and Investment Analysis, we encourage these experts to invest in creating new businesses, whether services or technology based.
Occupational profiles of graduates The scientific, technological and management skills developed will enable graduates to enter into a wide range of activities. The potential employers of these professionals include industrial and service companies (including consultancy), technical assistance and educational and research institutions.
Learning facilities The Department of Electromechanical Engineering provides the Course Scientific Commission of Master in Industrial Engineering and Management. This Commission is still composed by representatives of the Management and Economics Department., and Science and Textile Technology Department. Any one of these departments has the conditions and resources needed to achieve these course objectives. The University of Beira Interior also has infrastructure for general use, namely: - Central Library (200 computer work stations, open from 9 am to 23 pm) - Informatics Center (open 24 hours), with access to wireless e-contents, academic services, international communication, helpdesk, email, homepage, etc. and - Service networks (internal and external) - Service permanent access to the Internet and Social Services of the University (Canteens, Bars and Households with more than 800 beds).
