Learning outcomes Promote the application of knowledge, the ability of interpretation and understanding acquired to solve problems and design projects for industrial process automation. Obtain formation related to Programmable Logic Controller (PLC);
Know PLCs programming languages; Know to model Discrete Event Systems (DES);
Know to develop Petri nets;
Know DES properties and the methodologies to DES analysis and how these are related to industrial automation;
Analyse industrial automation solutions by analogy with DES;
Capable to carry out the supervision of industrial auotmation systems;
Capable to actively participate in this area assisting in further development or progress both the technical level or to the novel design.
Syllabus 1.Introduction to Automation. Introduction to devices used in industrial automation. Cable logic versus non-cable logic. Introduction to methodologies and problem description in industrial automation. Introduction to PLC. PLC components. Internal structure and operation. Input and output interfaces. Connection and communication between PLC.
2.PLC programming languages. Ladder diagram; Instruction List; Structured Text. Components of a typical programming language. Control flux structure Integrated development environment. GRAFCET: its standard and modeling techniques.
3.Discrete Event Systems (DES). DES Analysis methodologies, properties and modeling DES. Petri nets: dynamics and modelation. Expanded and restricted models. Net subclasses. DES and industrial automation. GRAFCET/Petri nets relation. Analysis of industrial automation solutions by analogy with DES.
4.Industrial automation systems supervision. Supervised control of DES. Controllers sinthesis. Industrial process control.
