Learning outcomes This course addresses the exercise of design and its social and ideological implications. It is intended as such, to promote understanding of the theoretical design foundations and its context, as well as the strong contribution of design to the definition of contemporary culture. Recognize design as a problem of the contemporary world;
Understand the theoretical foundations of design;
Develop an analytical and critical look on design as a discipline;
Being able to analyze and criticize a design object in a substantiated manner.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria Presentation of the programmed syllabus following a set of texts and multimedia materials. Critical discussion with the students about the analysed topics is permanently valued and instigated as part of the class’s organic and progression of the semester.
Minimum grade for exam admission is 6. The exam consists of a written test.
In order not to hinder the functioning of the class, it will only be possible to enter the room during the first 15 minutes of the class, or immediately after the break.
Language Portuguese. Tutorial support is available in English.
