Objectivos de Aprendizagem:
Objectives:
O1) explain the life-cycle environmental effects of engineering projects and link them to sustainability and climate resilience; O2) distinguish EIA from SEA, purposes, legal context, stages and role in decisions; O3) develop and review an EIS: screening, scoping, baseline, alternatives, significance, mitigation, monitoring and the non-technical summary; O4) apply quantitative methods to predict water-quality, road-runoff and noise impacts and design mitigation; O5) interpret environmental information and justify recommendations.

Skills:
S1) identify receptors and impact pathways; S2) organise EIA and SEA stages, actors and documents; S3) define scope and baseline and compare alternatives; S4) assess impact significance and cumulative effects and propose mitigation and monitoring; S5) document water-quality, runoff and noise calculations, assumptions and limitations.

Metodologias de Ensino e Critérios de Avaliação:
i) Written test or examination: 50% of the final mark. The written test or examination mark is designated TE.
ii) Reports for two individual practical assignments: Practical Report 1 (PR1), 25%, and Practical Report 2 (PR2), 25%.
iii) Failure to submit either practical assignment results in failure of the course unit.
iv) Minimum mark in the written test or examination: 7.0 out of 20.
v) Minimum final mark (FM) required to pass the course unit: 9.5 out of 20.

FM = 0.50 × TE + 0.25 × PR1 + 0.25 × PR2
