Libraries are always "magical and mythical" places, spaces of initiation to the possible beginning of endless stories, "living metaphors" of the human being itself. It is no coincidence that they are the fictional locations of choice in the dramaturgy and novels of Universal Literature. Remember Umberto Eco's "The Name of the Rose", Jorge Luís Borges' "The Library of Babel" ("the Library is the Universe" and vice versa), or Aby Warburg and Georges Steiner's "Performative Library".
The Library of the University of Beira Interior (UBI), although very young, humbly assumes the honour of this long tradition of wisdom. Encouraging the creation of a study and research environment, our Library, in its three centres, has sought to become an "experiential library".
