Ano 1
Semestre S1
Créditos ECTS 7,5
Carga Horária T(10H)/TP(20H)
Área Científica Sistemas de Informação Geográfica
Learning outcomes The course aims to provide students with skills for the use of Geographic Information Systems in the spatial analysis of network vector systems. The following competencies are transmitted to students: (a) Understanding the concepts of network, network model and network analysis operations. (b) Ability to execute the main types of network analysis (shortest path, closest facility, origin-destination cost matrix, service area, vehicle routing and location-allocation).
Syllabus 1. Network concept and introduction to network analysis.
2. GIS vector model for network analysis: graph, node, link, topological properties, attributes (impedance, turns, elevation and direction).
3. Network analysis operations: shortest path, closest facility, origin-destination cost matrix, service area, vehicle routing and location-allocation.
4. Applications of network analysis.
Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria This course takes place during the 2nd semester and consists of 30 hours of contact with the teacher, 170 hours of student autonomous work and 10 hours for evaluation (total: 210 hours). The course is credited with 7.5 ECTS. The course is structured with theoretical classes T (comprehensive learning of facts, concepts and principles) and theoretical-practical classes – TP (presentation of small practical examples and application of theoretical concepts to solve practical problems). Evaluation is performed in two phases: periodic evaluation with test (50%) and continuous evaluation with one practical problem (50%); final exam for admitted students (50% exam + 50% practical problem).
