Learning outcomes The curricular unit presents a very significant practical and reflective component. The classes will be a space for discussion of texts and audiovisual materials, so that students can develop a critical sense in relation to the topics covered in the curricular unit. Taking into account the specificity of the curricular unit, students will have to
a) Investigate on several themes and problems inherent to contemporary society.
b) Read about the selected themes;
c) Write arguments that critically support a point of view and defend it in debates;
d) Understand the importance of sharing knowledge in the classroom.

- Students will have to, as a group, write arguments and prepare their presentation, in the form of a debate, in class.

Syllabus 1. The emergence of capitalism and its impact on labour conditions and relations.
1.1 Full employment and decent work for all?
2. Vulnerabilities, risks and challenges in contemporary society:
2.1 Environment, sustainability and consumption: sustainable production and consumption.
2.2. The Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda: impact and consequences of climate change and the climate emergency.
2.3 Mobility(ies), migration and (re)configurations of territories.
3. Human rights.
4. Social inequality.
