Learning outcomes:
Provide the student with: (1) knowledge and ability to understand the various aspects of Swimming and its organizational and
regulatory, at the competitive level and formal and non-formal practice; (2) knowledge and skills about the teaching-learning process within the scope of Swimming and (3) ability to understand the problems associated with the organization, management and evaluation of the
Swimming training/classes and learning skills based on the various stages of sports training and complying with the main ethical rules and safety procedures.
Syllabus:
1. Introduction to Aquatic Activity Programs
2. Fundamental Aspects in the Organization of an Aquatic School
3. Concepts of Hydrostatics
4. Water Familiarization and Aquatic Literacy
5. Introduction to Baby Swimming and Other Special Populations
6. Basic Propulsive and Resistive Models in Swimming
7. Sport Regulations of Competitive (Pool) Swimming
8. Critical Components of Swimming Techniques, Starts, and Turns
9. Teaching Program for the Four Swimming Strokes, Starts, and Turns
10. Basic Methodological Aspects of Teaching Artistic Swimming and Water Polo
11. Basic safety rules and procedures, basic life support and rescue in aquatic environments.
Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria:
The assessment of this UC seeks to meet all learning objectives by using different mechanisms:
1) Written test (60%), whose assessed information coincides with that taught in T and TP classes, which includes the recommended bibliography; this assessment domain is worth 50% of the final AP grade;
2) Preparation of a lesson plan (25%), developed in groups (maximum of 5 elements); The lesson plan must be delivered to the teacher on a date to be defined;
3) Assessment of aquatic motor skills (25%), which presupposes completing a swimming distance, fulfilling the technical and regulatory assumptions for swimming; the evaluation will be qualitative in nature.
