A call is open for the award of 1 (one) Research Grant for Master (BI), within the scope of the Research Project entitled SlowPD – Development of an innovative drug candidate to slow the
progression of Parkinson’s Disease.
Reference: 2023.17550.ICDT/COMPETE2030-FEDER-00821600, co funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and the “Innovation and Digital Transition Programme” (COMPETE2030), to be carried out at RISE Health, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Beira Interior.

Purpose of the activity: To evaluate, using in vivo tissue models, the efficacy of a therapeutic formulation forParkinson’s Disease through computational microscopic imaging.
Admission and hiring requirements:
Candidates must demonstrate:
- Hold a Master’s degree in Biomedicine, Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related area considered appropriate by the Selection Committee;
- Demonstrate practical experience in a research laboratory environment (academic, internship or professional);
- Be able to execute and record laboratory protocols rigorously and systematically, including proper maintenance of laboratory notebooks or digital logs;
- Possess basic knowledge of molecular biology and/or histological techniques relevant to the project (for example, immunostaining, PCR, Western blot);
- Show responsibility, accuracy and attention to detail in laboratory tasks;
- Have functional proficiency in English, preferably with the ability to read and write scientific content;
- Demonstrate motivation to learn and progressively develop autonomy in laboratory methodologies;
- Show capacity to integrate into a research team, contribute positively to laboratory workflow, and comply with established safety procedures.
- Meet the conditions to be enrolled in a doctoral programme under the supervision of the project PI, or in a non degree granting course.
- Research grants awarded to master’s degree holders attending non degree courses may only be granted for a maximum period of one year.
- Research grants awarded to master’s degree holders enrolled in non degree courses may only be granted to candidates who do not exceed, with the signing of the current grant contract,
including any renewals, the accumulated period of two years in this type of grant, whether consecutive or interpolated.
