Dr. Ana Margarida Ferreira (AMF) currently serves as an Associate Professor with a Habilitation in Design at Universidade da Beira Interior (UBI), alongside her role as Vice-President of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, PhD in Design Course Coordinator and Senior Researcher at UBI''s R&D unit, i*Artes. Her academic background includes a Habilitation in Design (IADE - UE, 2020), a Postdoc in Design and Innovation for Social Change (Cyprus University of Technology, 2019), a PhD in Production Engineering / Industrial Design (UBI, 2008), a Post-Graduation in Product Design (Glasgow School of Art / CPD, 1996), and a BA in Industrial Design (IADE, 1995). Dr. Ferreira''s research interests primarily lie in Design Research Methodologies, Creativity & Innovation, Design Education, Social Innovation, and Sustainable Development. She actively collaborates(d) with national and international R&D units, including UNIDCOM/IADE-UE, LOGO at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil), and the Cypriot Art + Design: e-learning Lab-Design for Social Change at the Cyprus University of Technology. Dr Ferreira has supervised 9 PhD theses and numerous MSc dissertations throughout her career. She currently supervises 1 Postdoc student and 6 PhD students. She has also coordinated several R&D+i projects, such as "L3 - Lisbon community-based Learning Laboratory" (2015-16), "Design services for Project SHELTER" (2018-22), and "CREATION - Cultural and Arts Entrepreneurship in Adult Education" (2019-21). Dr. Ferreira''s contributions have been recognized with awards such as the IADE-U Research and Teaching Award (2015) and the Laureate International Universities "Here for Good" Honorary Prize (2017). She is the founder and co-editor of "DISCERN - International Design Journal for Social Change, Sustainable Innovation and Entrepreneurship" and serves as the President of Creative Nature Hub, an NGO focused on sustainable development in rural areas. In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr. Ferreira has lectured on various topics in PhD, MSc, and BA programs, including Research Methodology, Applied Research, Industrial Design, Creativity & Innovation, Social Innovation, Sustainability and Design for Circular Economy. Dr. Ferreira''s leadership roles include founding and coordinating the iA* Lab "DES''SIDE - Design for Sustainability, Social Innovation and Development" in the new R&D Unit of UBI and founding and coordinating the UNIDCOM/IADE "ID:Co.Lab - Collaborative Research Lab in Design and Sustainable Innovations (2013 -2023). Her tenure at IADE (1999-2022) included roles such as President of the Scientific Board (2015-16), Coordinator of the BA Course in Design (2009/12-2014/17), Executive Director of UNIDCOM (R&D unit) (2008-09) and, Vice-President of the Direction Board of IADE''s Design School (2010-12).
