Francisco Miguel Brardo is assistant professor at the University of Beira Interior. In 1996, he graduated in Applied Physics-Optical Branch with a specialization in Optometry and in 2010 completed his PhD in Physics at the University of Beira Interior. Actually, he is director of the Clinical and Experimental Center in Vision Sciences and researcher at the Center for Research in Health Sciences (CICS) at the University of Beira Interior. The research area is related to Health Sciences with an emphasis on the primary visual health care field. He is interested in the anterior ocular segment and related diseases, ocular optical coherent tomography, electroretinography and neurophysiology of the vision and special contact lens fittingHe is the author and co-author of publications in high-impact journals, such as the Journal of Neuro-Ophthalmology, BMC Ophthalmology, and Clinical and Experimental Optometry. He supervises doctoral theses in Biomedicine and master''s dissertations in Medicine. He is the Clinical Director of the Clinical and Experimental Center for Vision Sciences at the Faculty of Health Sciences, a structure that supports research and clinical teaching. He also holds the position of Course Director for the 1st Cycle of Studies in Optometry—Vision Sciences and as the Director of the Optics Center at the University of Beira Interior.
