João Nunes-Pereira (JNP) received the PhD degree in Science (Physics) in 2013, the MSc degree in Physics in 2009, and the BSc degree in Physics and Chemistry in 2006, all from the University of Minho, Braga, Portugal. He has over 50 publications in high-impact journals and 3 book chapters with more than 2200 citations, an h-index of 27 (SCOPUS), and over 40 scientific communications. He participated in 20 scientific projects and has supervised/tutored more than 25 postgraduate students (PhD and MSc). Since 2014, JNP has been conducting research activities in the field of Materials Science and Engineering, developing multifunctional polymer- or ceramic-based composites for applications in various industries, such as aeronautical, aerospace, environmental, biomedical, etc. In 2022, JNP became an Invited Assistant Researcher at the Department of Electromechanical Engineering at the University of Beira Interior (UBI) in the field of Materials ScienceSince 2023, JNP is an Assistant Researcher at the Centre for Mechanical and Aerospace Science and Technologies (C-MAST) at UBI, working on the development of multifunctional structural composites with self-sensing and self-healing capabilities based on recyclable materials (Project EcoSensHeal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7j6ydQzv1Uo&ab_channel=UBIUniversidadedaBeiraInterior).
