The Language Level Assessment Test for the Portuguese as a Foreign Language Course is available online from the 24th to the 26th of September. The course is offered at levels A1, A2 and B2.
The application process, which requires the submission of the document containing the Language Level Assessment Test result in order to be considered valid, will take place – from the 30th September to the 4th October. Enrollments will be available from the 9th to the 13th October.
Academic Period – 12th of October, 2026 to 22nd of January, 2027
Level A1 (20 places) – Monday and Wednesday – 6:00 pm –8:00 pm
Level A2 (40 places) – Tuesday and Thursday – 6:00 pm –8:00 pm
Level B2 (20 places) – Tuesday and Thursday – 6:00 pm –8:00 pm
Classrooms – Faculty of Arts and Letters (information will be available at the Main Entrance of Building 1, at the Letters Secretariat and will be published online www.ple.ubi.pt).
Follow 4 simple steps:
1st Step
Language level assessment test (MANDATORY) – 24th to the 26th of September (results reported by email until the 29th of September).
Candidates will receive, via email, a document confirming the completion of the test and recommend level.
It is mandatory to send this document to CFIUTE during the application period (read “2nd step - Applications” carefully). Failure to submit this document will result in the exclusion of your application.
2nd Step
Application – from the 30th of September to the 4th of October (online)
ATTENTION: Before submitting your application, please check the schedule for each level. Levels will be open if there is a minimum of 5 students.

Attention: after submitting your application on the platform, the document certifying that you took the test must be sent to the email cfiute@ubi.pt (subject of the e-mail - “Application for a Language Course”).
Placement notice (Application results) – 6th and 7th of October 2026
Attention: Enrollment in the course “Língua Estrangeira” (code 16957), as part of a study plan, constitutes a preferential criterion for placement/sequence.
3rd Step
Registration– from the 9th to the 13th of October (online)
ATTENTION: When you formalize your registration it is mandatory to pay the course fee in a single instalment (when applicable). Registration cancellations will not be accepted.

Registration fee – when applicable and according to the Academic Services’ fee table
Course fee - UBI Community (Students/Researchers/Staff) – €50
Course fee - Community external to UBI – €100
Course fee exemption: students enrolled in the UC “Língua Estrangeira” (code 16957), as part of their study plan. Attention: enrollment in this UC must be completed, in the Academic Services, by the 28th of September, before the application submission deadline.
4th Step
Lesson Period –12th of October 2026 to the 22nd of January 2027
Language skills assessment: 1) written comprehension, 2) written expression, 3) oral comprehension, and 4) oral expression and interaction.
