Profile of the programme
|
The PhD on Arts comes as a corollary of the artistic spectrum of training offered by UBI, addressing to the Masters in Design, Film, Visual Arts, Fine Arts and Architecture, but also to those who present relevant curricula in the study of culture and humanities. This program considers the epistemological specificity of the arts, its methodologies and objects, framing the artistic basic research development (arts-based research), able to deepen the dialogue with the conceptual, technological and media fields of academia, industry and contemporary society. The program considers the research on and through the arts as fundamental for the generation, mediation, reflection and critique of knowledge and culture so that, in the current crisis of disciplinary taxonomies, proposes an approach to issues of intermedia and hybridisation in the artistic field from the development of theses or original projects or art works proposals.
