Profile of the programme

The PH.D. in Education aims to build on and deeply develop essential competencies in the field of research and/or scientific production in the multiple contexts and different fields of Psychology. Having as main references Decree-Law no. 74/2006 24th March, the Dublin Descriptors guideline document and the ten principles of the European Knowledge Society Association (Salzburg, February 2005), it is the aim of this course to create ideal conditions to fulfil the following objectives: 1) Stimulate the capacity to critically and comprehensively analyse in Education; 2) Defining, planning and undertaking quality research projects and disseminating the results; 3) build a tight relation with community; 4) promote autonomy in scientific research.

Key learning outcomes

The CU intendd to guide and monitor students in developing a scientific research and thesis in Education.
At the conclusion of the CU the student must be able to:
Define a research problem Determine a theoretical framework to a research problem and empirical work. Critically analyze, integrate and apply with proficiency scientific information Apply various designs and quantitative and / or qualitative methodological options Perform data analysis Use, in an advanced way, technical, instrumental and laboratory resources Interpret, discuss and communicate research results. Write a dissertation under the UBI rules and deadlines. Engage with the ethical principles in research Communicate in oral and written forms, research processes and outcomes Evidence reflective self-critical and decision-making capabilities
